"This piece was done at the suggestion of my mother. When she grew up, her parents - my grandparents - had a ceramic tile hanging up in their home with this blessing in Italian:
Signore,
Benedici chi entra in questa casa,
proteggi chi esci,
dona pace a chi resta. 
This is my attempt at an English version. My painted plants don't tend to be very correct botanically, but the red flowers here are inspired by the pots of geraniums that my nanna used to keep outside the back of my grandparents' house."
