Holy Michael Archangel Prayer Cards

Holy Michael Archangel Prayer Cards

The Archangel Michael (whose name means 'Who is like God?') is known as the head of the archangels. He is mentioned explicitly in the book of Revelation, leading the battle against Satan, and so is frequently invoked for protection against demons. This prayer is frequently recited after Mass, a tradition that is continued by the Dominican Sisters of St Joseph every day.

This image of St Michael was completed in the style of traditional icons by Luke Cahill, a friend of the community. Sr Lucy completed the prayer on the reverse in traditional dip-pen calligraphy, using contrasting red and turquoise-blue inks to capture something of St Michael's strength.
