Folded Saint Joseph Prayer Cards

Part of our Dominicards range.
 
This unique prayer card was designed especially for the year of St Joseph (2020-2021), at the request of a generous Dominicards patron, and we are very happy to continue offering it in our shop. As the Dominican Sisters of St Joseph, we are always seeking to promote devotion to this wonderful saint!
 
When preparing to paint the front portrait, Sr Lucy studied many different images of St Joseph before deciding how to portray him. She chose brown and green (colours traditionally associated with St Joseph) as the principle tones to convey St Joseph's simplicity and uprightness. In his face, Sr Lucy aimed to portray St Joseph's strength and steadfastness as the young carpenter of Nazareth who was chosen to be the head and protector of the Holy Family. 
The two prayers to St Joseph contained by the card were written in traditional calligraphy with brown and green ink, to complement the colours used in the portrait.
