Archangel Raphael Prayer Cards

Part of our Dominicards range. 
 
The Archangel Raphael (whose name means 'God has healed') appears in the Old Testament books of Tobit and 1 Enoch. He is most frequently petitioned for cures to illnesses, but has a wide-range of patronages, including eye problems, young people, mental illness, and travellers. 
 
Sr Lucy completed the original watercolour portrait of St Raphael as a commission for one of our kind Dominicards patrons. In the bold colours she sought to express something of Raphael's otherworldliness, as a pure spirit, while his outstretched hand expresses the comfort and healing that he brings as a messenger of God. The prayer on the reverse was completed in traditional calligraphy, with blue and deep yellow ink chosen to complement the colours of the portrait.
